Great book! Bradbury is a little paranoid about the future, but who can blame him, considering the condition of the world when It was written. The eBook was still a thing to be ‘invented’ and until recently, reading books on anything but paper was unthinkable. Even now, I think the majority of readers prefer paper, but that is changing fast. However, it will take a generation of two before paper books are the exception, instead of the rule. This might cause a sequel to Fahrenheit 451 to be written. And instead of fire, the use of EMP’s might endanger books.

It’s ironic that Bradbury has only recently embraced eBooks. (I think embraced is too strong of a word. Bradbury has been a long time enemy of eBooks.) Fahrenheit 451 was finally released in eBook format on December 6, 2011. I wonder if it’s because he finally saw the light and is accepting eBooks as the future, or is it simply because his copyright was expiring soon and releasing it in eBook format would extend the copyright. I suspect the later.
