We have a new member of the family, Drake the Bearded Dragon. He is quite a character, and eats like there is no tomorrow. He also has an unusual sleeping pattern. He like to stand up in the corner, lean against the glass and go to sleep. I’ve never seen anything like it. The first night he did it we were worried that he was dying or something because he just stood there all night without moving.

This weekend we went to a corn maze. I thought it was a good opportunity to capture some images. The above image is my favorite, but it still left something to be desired. The trouble is that when the family wants recreation, they don’t want to stand still for long for me to setup a shot.

I suppose the solution is to set expectations in advance and to try to keep recreation and location photography somewhat separate. Otherwise, frustration might be the only thing found, and fun will be lost in the maze.

This morning the clouds were once again stunning. I’ve been enjoying the film grain that I can get out of NIK filters. I looks like there is a hand in the sky…a three fingered hand from the Simpsons.

The other night I was out in the garden making photos of whatever caught my eye. I was about to go inside when I heard humming…very loud humming. I looked and found this bumble bee struggling to scavenger nectar from a wild flower. As I photographed him, we seemed to be struggling up and down the plant with his legs, and beating his wings furiously. He seemed tired and alone, without the stregth to even fly to the next flower. I thought he would surly die here this night.

After a few minutes of this, but what seemed much longer, he suddenly got his second wind and flew out of the yard.

Often we don’t know what we (or others) are capable of.
