Day 230 - Trolling the Laundromat Taken with the iPhone Camera.

We decided to extend our vacation a few days, so we had to get some laundry done. We spent part of Memorial Day in a Laundromat.

Day 229 - Not So Snowy Snow Canyon Taken with the Nikon D90 and the Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8. Edited in Lightroom.

I decided on a scenic photo for today. We spent some time today on a beach at a near by reservoir, but non of the photos from that mini adventure seemed right. And so I give to you, Snow Canyon State Park. It was named Snow canyon, not because of the white stuff, but after the name of an individual.

Day 228 - No Man's Land Taken with the Nikon D90 and the Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8. Edited in Lightroom and Photoshop.

Spent the day in and around Snow Canyon State Park near St. George, Utah. My internet connection is REALLY slow, but at least I found a way to post today’s photo.

Day 227 - On The Road Again Taken with the iPhone camera.

This photo is the first one I’m posting on the day after it was taken. I was busy packing and driving…and the photo isn’t even that interesting, but at least I took ONE photo.

Day 226 - The Ugly Gosling Taken with the Nikon D90 and the Sigma 70-300mm1:4-5.6. Edited in Lightroom, Photoshop and Topaz Adjust.

Okay, before I get hate mail…I don’t think these gosling are ugly. :) I named this photo that because of Tasra’s Theme Thursday theme…diversity, and because the the story of The Ugly Ducking. I have vivid memories of that story from my childhood. My parents created duck puppets out of Styrofoam and feathers and my siblings and I acted out that story in a puppet show. That story taught me a great deal about diversity, that often we do not understand the true potential of others. It also gave me hope that when I grew up maybe I wouldn’t be as ugly as my brothers…didn’t happen. ;)

Day 225 - Scout's Honor Taken with the Nikon D90 and the Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8. Edited in Lightroom.

James Jr. received his “Arrow of Light” award tonight and has officially moved from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts. I usually don’t use selective color, but on this one I desaturated everything but the most saturated colors. It left the beads and his blue shirt in color and the liquid in the jar still looked like it was glowing. (The ceremony that Joseph put on was cool and involved making the stuff in the jar glow.)

Day 224 - Who's On First Taken with the Nikon D90 and the Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8. Edited in Lightroom.

My kids and their friends went to the park today to work on their kickball skills. Tomorrow is Field Day at school and they want to be at their best. This photo is of ‘D’. I liked how the plane of focus was just short of the subject. It gave the photo a certain sense of action or motion…or something.

Day 223 - Catch Me If You Can Taken with the Nikon D90 and the Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8. Edited in Lightroom.

As a photographic exercise today, I decided to try to capture James Jr. catching popcorn in his mouth. Over 100 shutter clicks later, here we are…not perfect, but fun.

Day 222 - Growing Up Rebel Taken with the Nikon D90 and the Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8. Edited in Lightroom.

My boy turned 11 today. He’s growing up so fast. Here are couple of pictures from more than 9 years ago when he was not even two years old. Yep…same boy…same bike.

It’s still possible to see that same little boy in his face…though he doesn’t wear around as much food on his shirt as he used to.

Day 221 - Burning the Birthday Candle At Both Ends Taken with the iPhone camera. Edited in Lightroom.

I’m running a little short on inspiration today. Do you ever get to the end of your day and realize that you haven’t taken a picture? Well, that happened today. My Son had a bunch of friends over for his birthday party, while I was off taking care of some other pressing business. Just before it was time to turn in for the evening my son reminded me that I hadn’t taken my picture for the day, so I quickly took some birthday candles and my iPhone and that is what you get today…Burning the birthday candles at both ends…at least that is what it feels like.
