Day 189 - Who Wants Wings? Taken with the Nikon D90 and the Sigma 70-300mm 1:4-5.6. Edited in Lightroom.

(Remember. You can click the photo to see the larger version.)

I think that if I had one completely unrealistic wish…I would want to be able to fly like a bird. I’m not talking about parachuting…I don’t really feel like jumping out of a perfectly good airplane. Nor do I want to fly in some ultralight aircraft or contraption. I want to be able to flap my arms (wings) and fly. I did mention that this is a completely unrealistic wish.

The photo above is my favorite wing photo from the walk around Decker Lake today at lunch. Here are some of the runner ups.

Don’t forget…today is Twitter Tuesday…see others who are tweeting their 365 photos.

Day 188 - Running For It Taken with the Nikon D90 and the Sigma 70-300mm 1:4-5.6. Edited in Lightroom.

This photo of James Jr. running turned out somewhat different than I expected, but I like the effect enough to use it for my photo of the day. The chain link fence in the foreground really gives it a interesting feel.

Day 187 - Quail Watching (From My Yard) Taken with the Nikon D90 and the Sigma 70-300mm 1:4-5.6. Edited in Lightroom.

This morning I heard an unfamiliar bird song in my neighborhood. I started to look around and found this quail walking around on my neighbors roof. It stayed for a while and posed while walking up and down and then flew away (probably to a nearby nest).

Day 186 - Earth Day Is Coming Up Taken with the iPhone camera. Edited with iPhone application Lo-Mob.

Earth day is coming up next week on Thursday, April 22. I found that out today while taking my aluminum to the recycle place today. Usually when you think of earth day, you might think of a pristine natural setting. But when I saw the contrast between the mountains in the background and the piles of can in the foreground, I thought this is really what it about.

Day 185 - Nature Lover Taken with the Nikon D90 and the Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8. Edited in Lightroom.

I haven’t posted a photo of Tigger recently. He is enjoying spring so much (except when it rains and he can’t decide if he wants to go out or stay in.) But when it’s is nice weather, he’s as content as can be. Life is good.

Day 184 - Abandoned Taken with the Nikon D90 and the Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8. Edited in Lightroom.

While walking around Decker Lake at lunch today I saw this abandoned sand pail.

Day 183 - Half Way Taken with the Nikon D90 and the Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8. Edited in Lightroom and Photoshop.

With this photo I’m officially pass the half way mark of my project 365. I was trying to think about how to represent this with a photo. The saying came to mind about a cup being half full or half empty. Which way do you see it? To me, it’s neither half full nor half empty…just twice as big as it needs to be. :)

Day 182 - Four-year-old Smile Taken with the Nikon D90 and the Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8. Edited in Lightroom.

My nephew, Landon, turned four years old today so we went to have cake and ice cream to celebrate. For me, taking photos of kids is as fun as taking photos of flowers…and just like flowers…the moment to capture the memories is all too soon gone.

Day 181 - Raindrops on Daffodil Taken with the Nikon D90 and the Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8. Edited in Lightroom.

A rather predictable photo today, but I like it. Flowers are one the the major reasons I became passionate about photography. I just love beautiful flowers and I hate to see them go, so I try to preserve their memory in photographic form. After starting to photograph them several years ago, I soon found out that there is more to making a memorable photograph than just pointing a camera at a subject and firing away. Seeing a beautiful flower is just the first step in capturing an outstanding photograph of it, there is so much more to it than meets the eye (pun intended).

D180 - Not Enough Time Taken with the Nikon D90 and the Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8. Edited in Lightroom.

The weekend has come to an end all too soon. This was a fun photo I was able to capture today while taking a group shot of my buddies and their families. I got some proper shots that I’ll share with my friends, but I especially loved this one because of all the natural smiles and laughs that came out of it. (Remember, you can click on each photos to enlarge.)
